Creating Smarter Lunchrooms: Online Course

This introductory course, created by the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement National Office at Cornell University, provides a solid foundation in the theory of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement. In this course, participants will learn:

  • How and why the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement uses behavioral economics to influence food decisions.
  • The six core principles of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement and how they can be applied to school cafeterias.
  • The four-step path used to implement smarter lunchroom strategies in school cafeterias

Access this online course on eCornell, Cornell University’s online learning platform.

Successful completion of this course will earn you two CEUs from the School Nutrition Association and a certificate of completion. If you are completing this course to become a technical advising professional, please make sure you save the certificate for your records.

Smarter Lunchrooms Movement Technical Advising Professionals Workshop

This workshop provides in-depth, hands-on training to become a certified technical advising professional (TAP) who can provide support and guidance to schools implementing the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement. The workshop will provide:

  • Hands-on instruction for providing technical advising to foodservice staff.
  • Resources and tools to utilize for implementation and evaluation of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement.
  • A guided site visit where TAPs complete a lunchroom observation and provide feedback to foodservice staff at a school site.

No Time to Train

Provide basic training to school foodservice staff with No Time to Train, a set of scripted, customized lessons from the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement National Office. Use the No Time to Train Manual and PowerPoints to engage staff with these turnkey trainings.
